"... now, will not God bring about justice for His elect who cry to Him day and night, and will He delay long over them? ...”
Luke 18:1 - 8
One of our translators reports that it is difficult to sit with his language team and learn vocabulary. This is really difficult for them and it wasn't working well. However, when he goes hiking, his team is eager to point out trees, birds, and animals, etc. as they travel. Pray that he will continue finding ways to learn the tribal language.
But the word of the LORD was unto them
precept upon precept, precept upon precept;
line upon line, line upon line;
here a little, and there a little;
Please pray for airfares to go down. It is amazing how high the tickets are now compared to what they were in November (which was also rather high). I, Mary, do need to go to my hematologist in the US, and I would like to spend some time with my father.
... for your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things.
One of our translators writes: Too many cloudy days in a row. I am coming to town Monday for the month of June to work more efficiently on B.T. Plan to hibernate and work. PTL for option of being able to do that. Will come back out [to her village] in July.
The earth quaked;
The heavens also dropped rain at the presence of God;
Twice recently families have experienced some break-ins, one of these was in the daytime. Please pray that we will be vigilant and discerning as we live. Ask God to keep us safe.
But the Lord is faithful, and He will strengthen and protect you from the evil one.
Our support fluctuates from month to month. With the added expense of the boys and of Mary's travel, we would like to supplement our income. Mary is looking for remote work, specifically as a web designer, but also as a freelance writer. Please pray that something will be found to help pay for these additional needs.
and because he was a tentmaker ..., he stayed and worked with them.
Due to the sudden illness of our school's director, a new director has been appointed for this next school year. Please pray for him as he assumes the reins on June 1. Even though Hillcrest is a Christian school, led and taught by Christians, we are still being sanctified. Also, we are, almost all of us, independent workers with our own ideas. Please pray that Hillcrest will unify around Christ and work together through this year of transition.
make my joy complete by being of the same mind, maintaining the same love, united in spirit, intent on one purpose.
Our son is still outside of the US on his business trip. Please continue to pray that the tuberculosis he has will remain dormant. He is scheduled to begin medication to cure this disease when he returns. We understand the return will be later this month.
Because of the surpassing greatness of the revelations, for this reason, to keep me from exalting myself, there was given me a thorn in the flesh, a messenger of Satan to torment me—to keep me from exalting myself!
We have just heard from the translation team for the "T" people. They write of this progress: We have done portions of Genesis, Exodus, the Gospel of Luke, and are continuing with stories of Jesus from the other Gospels. We have asked prayer for them throughout this year. Please continue to pray for this work.
And he settled there a year and six months, teaching the word of God among them.
Our boys will have two months between school terms. At present, we're expecting them to spend the time with their family. Please pray that during this time, they will grow in their dependence on Jesus Christ.
O God, You have taught me from my youth,
And I still declare Your wondrous deeds.
June 5, 2023 marks our 47th wedding anniversary. Praise the Lord!
Two are better than one because they have a good return for their labor.
Although Mike and I contracted the bout of illness that went through our community, we were not sick at the same time. It did slow us down as May has been rightfully nicknamed "Maniac May," due to all the activities which are crammed one right after another. We thank God for improving health.
For we do not want you to be unaware, brethren, of our affliction which came to us in Asia, that we were burdened excessively, beyond our strength, ...
Please pray for our school's director. He was recently diagnosed with his third bout of cancer. Because of that he immediately returned to the US for more tests and specific treatment plans. Pray for his strength during chemo as his weight dropped significantly prior to diagnosis.
The LORD will sustain him upon his sickbed;
In his illness, You restore him to health.
A major concern of our graduates is to make friends within their new cultures away from Papua. Pray they will be a beacon of truth to those around them, they will have good, strong Christian friends, and that each one will have at least one accountability partner to help them grow in grace.
And if one can overpower him who is alone, two can resist him. A cord of three strands is not quickly torn apart.
Another of our graduates is looking for the right summer job to fit his needs. He's not worried about getting one, but praying for a good environment and fit.
For even when we were with you, we used to give you this order: if anyone is not willing to work, then he is not to eat, either.
